HBO film reveals that the creator of Bitcoin is developer named Peter Todd.
A segment in the documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery shows Peter Todd as Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym of Bitcoin’s creator.
Directed by Emmy-nominated Cullen Hoback, Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery revolves around the mystery of the person behind Bitcoin. Todd is also a Bitcoin Core developer, a term referring to core members involved in the development of the world’s largest cryptocurrency. He is also the founder of OpenTimestamps and is highly regarded in the crypto space.
After the film clip appeared, Todd quickly denied it. “Of course, I am not Satoshi,” he told CoinDesk. “Hoback is grasping at straws.” He also confirmed that he was interviewed by Hoback and that “the footage is not deepfake.”
Previously, when HBO released the film’s trailer, all attention was focused on Leonard Harris “Len” Sassaman, one of the early Bitcoin developers who passed away in 2011.
Satoshi Nakamoto is believed to hold around 1.1 million Bitcoin, equivalent to 66 billion USD.
