The Layer 1 project Avalanche has officially announced the successful implementation of Avalanche9000 — the most significant upgrade in the network’s history.
The Avalanche9000 upgrade introduces groundbreaking improvements, significantly reducing the costs of deploying new blockchains (commonly referred to as “subnets”) within the Avalanche ecosystem. This makes the process of creating and operating subnets far cheaper and easier than ever before.
The Avalanche team shared “The Avalanche9000 upgrade reduces Layer 1 deployment costs by 99.9%. With hundreds of Layer 1s currently being developed on Testnet, prepare for an explosive wave of launches in the coming months.”
They also explained why Avalanche9000 is regarded as the network’s most substantial upgrade to date, highlighting several key improvements:
1. ACP-77: Optimizing Validator Operations
- Validators on a subnet are no longer required to validate the entire blockchain’s data, significantly lowering operational costs and hardware requirements.
- Users now only need to pay 1.33 AVAX per month to participate in validation, instead of staking a minimum of 2,000 AVAX (valued at nearly $100,000) as was previously required.
2. ACP-125: Reducing Base Fees on the C-chain
- The base fee on Avalanche’s C-chain has been reduced from 25 nAVAX to just 1 nAVAX (approximately $0.00000004).
- According to the Avalanche team, this change enables users to allocate resources more efficiently within the ecosystem.
These transformative enhancements mark a new era of growth for Avalanche, paving the way for increased participation from developers and projects in the near future.
